中國有許多的河流和湖泊。這些河流可以被分為外河和內河。中國乃至亞洲最長的河流長江是世界第三長河。中國的母親河黃河在長度上僅次于長江。二者都流向太平洋。湖泊也同樣重要。擁有最多湖泊的地域為長江中下游平原（the Middle-Lower Yangtze Plain）和青藏高原。西北部的很多湖泊為鹽水湖。在中國東南部，很多湖泊為淡水湖。它們為中國提供了寶貴的資源。
There are numerous rivers and lakes in China. These rivers can be classified as exterior and interior rivers. The Yangtze River, the longest in China and even in Asia, is the third longest in the world. The Yellow River, China’s Mother River, is just behind the Yangtze River in length. They both flow into the Pacific Ocean. Lakes are also important. The areas with the most lakes are the Middle-Lower Yangtze Plain and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Many lakes in the Northwest are salty. In Southeast China, many lakes are freshwater lakes. These provide China with precious resources.
