事業愈大則困難亦愈甚，抵抗困難的時期也隨之俱長，有的盡我們的一生尚不能目見其成者，我們若能盡其中一段的工夫，替后人開辟一段道路，或長或短，即是貢獻，有所成功以備后人參考，固是貢獻：即因嘗試而失敗，使后人有所借鑒，亦是貢獻。所以能向前努力者，無論成敗，都有貢獻。最無絲毫貢獻者是不干，怕失敗而不干，或半途遇著困難即不愿干。
The grander the career, the greater the difficulty, and the longer time it may take to fight against the hardships. Sometimes the success is even beyond reach during our lifetime. If we can make an effort to break a path, whether it is long or short, for the future generations, it is a contribution. While successes serve as the reference for our descendants, lessons can be drawn from failures as well, and that is also a contribution. Whatever the results, anyone who tries makes a contribution. A person who makes the least contribution is the one who refuses to try. either for fear of failures or difficulties in the process.
