長城（the Great Wall）是世界七大奇跡之一。中國歷代王朝歷經 2 000 多年才鑄就了這座宏偉的軍事防御工程（defense project）。如果你到了中國卻沒去爬長城，就像到了法國沒有去看埃菲爾鐵塔，或者就像到了埃及沒有去看金字塔一樣。長城長約8851.8千米，由東向西蜿蜒穿過沙漠、草原、山地和高原（plateau）。長城是用土石建造而成的，也是由數以百萬計的中國人的血肉凝聚而成的。
The Great Wall, one of the seven great wonders of the world, was built as a magnificent military defense project by successive Chinese dynasties over more than 2 000 years. If you come to China without climbing the Great Wall, it’s just like going to France without visiting the Eiffel Tower or going to Egypt without visiting the Pyramids. With a length of approximately 8 851.8 kilometers, the Great Wall winds up and down from east to west of China through deserts, grasslands, mountains and plateaus. The Great Wall was made not only of stone and earth, but also by the flesh and blood of millions of the Chinese.
