現在中國越來越盛行西式婚禮，但還是有很多年輕人選擇傳統中式婚禮。結婚當天，新郎要在親朋好友的陪同下去新娘家迎娶新娘。當他們到達婚禮地點時，音樂和鞭炮聲隨即響起，而身穿紅色裙裝的新娘將會在一片喜慶的氣氛中被領上紅毯。新人在叩拜(kowtow)天地、父母和夫妻交拜之后進入洞房(bridal chamber)，客人們則開始宴席。紅色象征著喜慶，是服裝以及其他婚禮相關物品的顯著特點。
The Western wedding is becoming more and more prevailing in China; however, many young people still prefer the traditional Chinese wedding. On the wedding day, the groom, accompanied by close friends and relatives, should go to the bride’s home to fetch the bride. On their arrival of the wedding place, there would be music and firecrackers and the bride in a red wedding gown would be led along the red carpet in a festive atmosphere. After performing the kowtow three times to worship the heaven, parents and spouse, the new couple would go to their bridal chamber while the guests would be treated to a feast. Red, symbolic of joy, is the prominent feature of the clothing and other ritual objects pertaining to the wedding.
